ITALY? NO, THEY'RE LIKE CNN "PLAY(ER) OF THE DAY"?
SAPPORO ? It's already "The Day", when here in Sapporo the two leaders of Group D has to show who's the best.
From one side the United States, no doubt. On the other Italy.
Italy? Com'on, stop making jokes? They're without one of the best scorer of the team in the last three years, Bulleri; there's not the Captain, Galanda; there's not the solid rebounder Chiacig. And n°1 pick of NBA Draft 2006 Andrea Bargnani refused to play this summer with Italy.
You know, the Raptors asked, and bla bla bla? Ok. But they're still undefeated.
The score was 14-28 vs Slovenia, in the second quarter? And 32-44 vs Senegal in the third? So what happened?
They've to go into hell bifore to start play basketball? No, it's easier: they just need to know who's the "Player of the Day".
In perfect CNN style. Not the well famous "Play of the Day" corner, but the "Player of the Day".
Day1: Basile, 27 points vs China.
Day2: Belinelli 26 vs Slovenia. Day3: Mancinelli, only 6 but enough to give the boost to the whole team. Then Michelori, Mordente, Soragna followed him, but "Mancio" was the key.
Before of that, only 6'53" on the court in this FIBA World Championship, vs Slovenia, but enough to be beaten by Boki Nachbar, 5 points in a row. For Recalcati was enough, bench for Mr. Mancinelli and no more chance in the game.
Vs China? DNP.
Vs Senegal? Hero.
Today USA vs Italy: who will be next "Player of the Day"? Stay tuned.
